Homosassa Springs, Florida

I'm in Florida now! A few days ago I was at Homosassa Springs and took some photos. Here are three. The first one is an alligator eating a raccoon, the second one is a couple of manatees, and the third one is a brown pelican.

New Orleans, French Quarter

I am in the French Quarter of New Orleans now and I took a lot of photos yesterday afternoon and evening. Here are a few, but I will post some more later.

Breaux Bridge, Louisiana

Not far from Lake Martin I stopped by Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. An interesting old town and known as the Crawfish Capital of the World!

Lake Martin, Louisiana

East of Lafayette, Louisiana I found a really cool place. It is called Lake Martin and it is a wonderful cypress swamp. There is also an egret and roseated spoonbill rookery there. Saw some alligators too!

Stopped and visited the home of Tabasco on Avery Island, Louisiana.

New Iberia, Louisiana

Here are some of the stately old southern houses in New Iberia, Louisiana.

Lake Charles, Louisiana

I began a long road trip yesterday starting in Austin, Texas. Last night I stayed in Baytown, Texas and tonight I am in Lake Charles, Louisiana. I found a cool local place for dinner eating crab, shrimp, oysters, and catfish. It was cool watching many of the locals chowing down on big platters of boiled crawfish. :-) Here are photos of the people at the next table. Pinch dem tails, suck dem heads! :-)

Trinity River, Texas

In Texas near the Louisiana border east of Baytown there is the Trinity River. I stopped there and took a few photos of the wonderful swamp and bird sanctuary.

Hmm, maybe that is why I was able to avoid getting eaten when I was there in 1995. :-)

It was at a small village in the Baliem Valley and they said it was the 500 year old headman of the village.
